You’ve probably wondered if your passwords are strong enough, but have you ever thought about how secure the place you keep them is? In this episode, Carrie and Kyle discuss certain risk behind where you save your passwords, as well as going over three common unsecure locations, and providing better alternatives.

Your passwords are more important than you think…

While people are starting to realize this, we see far too often that passwords aren’t treated with the same respect as other sensitive information.

Passwords and usernames, in most cases, act as the first line of defense against a cyber attack. If this information is in anyway compromised, the bad guys have a lot more potential to wreak havoc then they would without the information.

As mentioned in the podcast, there are a handful of places that considered unsecure for several reasons.

Think of it like this – if a password is readily available for you somewhere on your desktop, web browser, or in your documents/files, it should be thought of as readily available for criminals as well.

Now, this doesn’t mean that if your passwords are currently saved in one of those formats you need to panic because the bad guys already have access. It means that in the event of a cyber attack, criminals are going to have a lot more success due to finding that information, and trust me, they WILL find it. They know exactly where and what to look for during a cyber attack to take advantage of any weaknesses in security.
